The Coming of Spring

In my experience, winter is a time of slowdown. During the winter months, I tend to find myself doing less, lower energy, and more content to lounge around. I tend to read a lot, watch a lot of shows, and take a good amount of time for introspection. The growth which takes place during winter, for me, has always been an inner growth, and most of the work I do in those months, is inner work.

I have always felt that it is better to allow winter to be that time of slowdown, than to fight it. I did so this year, in a big way. It was uncomfortable at first, because I have been lead to believe that there is no place or time for doing very little. I can now honestly state that sometimes, you have to just let go of expectations, and allow what is to be.

Having honored winter, and the way it plays out for me, the coming of spring hit like a ray of sunshine penetrating a layer of cloud. Already, I feel more energetic, more forward looking, and I have started making myself busier again. The yard is growing, brown patches slowly giving way to green. The chill that hung on through the winter has given way to warmer days, and even the colder nights have not the bone chill that they did just a month ago.

The coming of spring has been like the bursting of a dam. It feels so good to be making progress again. It feels great to spend more time outdoors again. To get back to the projects that were abandoned in winter. The coming of spring feels like a new birth, a fresh cycle, another round through life to make new experiences, build new things, and enjoy all that life has to offer.

The dawn has come, that darkest day has gone, as I always knew it would.

I hope that you, dear reader, are enjoying the spring as well, and the feelings of new life that come with it.
